Columbus Catch-A-Cab driver gets away from kidnapper at NW Georgia gas station
A Columbus Catch A Cab driver is unharmed after being kidnapped on New Year’s Day and found miles away in northwest Georgia.
A female driver, working at Catch-A-Cab, was kidnapped by a subject, later identified as Saiveon Jycorieous Smalls, on January 1, 2022. The kidnapping occurred when, according to multiple sources, the driver picked up Smalls around noon. The driver told Smalls to get out, due to Smalls not giving an exact address, and pay the fee and Smalls allegedly pulled a knife and told the driver to keep driving. Columbus Police officials continued their hardworking search for the driver and Smalls.
Three hours later, around 4:15 P.M., the driver went inside a gas station near Alabama Highway in Ringgold, Georgia, called the police and locked the gas station doors. Smalls then went on the run and law enforcement activated a manhunt for Smalls. Smalls was later located by a K-9 during a foot pursuit near a Cracker Barrel, according to Northwest Georgia Scanner. Sources say Smalls was arrested at 4:45 P.M.
Smalls is being charged with kidnapping and obstruction of officers, according to reports.
