Convicted felon flees from Muscogee County deputies during two traffic stops
A man is facing charges after fleeing twice during two traffic stops.
Deputies with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Bureau attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle for not having a license plate on January 6, 2023 and that is when the vehicle fled.
A deputy noticed the vehicle had gone down a dead end road. The vehicle had stopped and was still occupied.
Once the driver noticed the deputy, he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The deputy stayed with the vehicle and juvenile passenger, while radioing a description of the suspect who fled to responding units.
The driver who fled was identified as convicted felon Gary Pressley, who had outstanding warrants with the Columbus Police Department for Battery Family Violence and three counts of Simple Battery Family Violence.
While searching the area, deputies observed a vehicle with a passenger matching the description of Pressley. Deputies initiated a traffic stop.
Upon stopping, the passenger got out of the vehicle and was positively identified him as Gary Pressley. Pressley again attempted to flee on foot. Deputies gave chase, tased, and apprehended Pressley. Pressley was treated for minor injuries and transported to the Muscogee County Jail.
Pressley was charged by the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officer, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude, Suspended Registration, No Insurance, No State Tag, Driving While License Suspended, and Possession of Marijuana
The juvenile was released to their primary caretaker.
