Super Motel 8 customer, employee rescued by Columbus police during armed robbery, kidnapping
Columbus Police Officers responded to the Super 8 Motel on Warm Springs Road in reference to an armed robbery and kidnapping on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 2:14 p.m.
The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the business, brandished a handgun and demanded room keys. The suspect forced an employee and customer into a motel room where they were held at gunpoint and their cell phones were taken. After gaining access to the room, officers were able to rescue the victims and take the suspect into custody.
As a result of this investigation, Kie-Aaron Lamar Dawkins, 33, was arrested and charged with the following:
• Armed Robbery x2
• Kidnapping x2
• False Imprisonment x2
• Pointing a Pistol at Another
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
• Possession of a Stolen Firearm by a Convicted Felon
• Simple Battery
