Phenix City capital murder suspect shot man six months ago during trespassing dispute, sources confirm
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the capital murder of a 12-year-old boy, and shocking new details have been revealed.
The boy, who remains unidentified due to him being a juvenile, was shot and killed in the 3600 block of U.S. Highway 80 during the evening hours of February 1, 2023. The boy was pronounced deceased by Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr.
The boy’s alleged killer, identified as 50-year-old Tywoana Evette Anderson Jakes, was later booked into the Russell County Jail on the charge of homicide-capital murder of a person under the age of 14.
Nearly six months ago, in September of 2022, a separate man was shot by Jakes. The man was shot once during a trespassing dispute on Jakes’ property. The man recovered from his injuries.
