Columbus woman charged after intentionally striking, killing man on Macon Road off ramp
A Columbus woman is facing charges after a hit and run crash on an off ramp of Macon Road earlier this month.
Authorities responded on March 9, 2023, to the Macon Road off ramp at I-185 where they found a person suffering injuries. The person, later identified as Robert Carter, was pronounced deceased at Piedmont Columbus Regional, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. Carter’s death was ruled accidental, but today he says the Violent Crimes Unit completed their investigation and found it was an intentional act to cause bodily harm. The death is now being ruled homicide, and an autopsy has been scheduled for Carter.
