Death investigation underway after shooting on Old Buena Vista Rd. in Columbus
Columbus detectives are investigating a death after a Wednesday afternoon shooting.
The shooting took place on Old Buena Vista Road. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan responded to the scene, along with firefighters, medics, and police, and pronounced 23-year-old Derek Antonio, Jr. dead at 5:40 P.M. from a gunshot wound.
The manner of death is undetermined as the investigation continues. CNAW is being told a gun was not located at the scene, so the death could be a possible homicide. The deceased person’s mother has been notified.
We have sent a message to the public information officer for the police department for more information, but we have not received a reply. No other details have been released nor confirmed.
