Two rental company employees shot inside LaGrange business; one arrested, another wanted
A work day for two LaGrange employees came to an abrupt halt Monday when they were shot inside their own workplace.
LaGrange police began investigating the shooting when they were dispatched to Aaron’s Rental, located at 222 Commerce Avenue, around 5:41 P.M. on April 10, 2023.
The officers who arrived on scene located two employees suffering from gunshot wounds. The injured employees were treated at the scene by LaGrange Fire personnel and EMS, and were then taken to nearby hospitals by helicopter.
The Criminal Investigations Section then took over the investigation at this time, and after interviews and other investigative sources, Taquavious Smith and Zaniyyah Muhammad were identified as the responsible parties.
“This incident occurred over an alleged dispute from a previous incident,” police said.
Smith and Muhammad fled the scene in a black in color car. A short time later Muhammad was located at her residence where she was taken into custody.
Smith is still wanted at this time and considered to be armed at this time. Warrants were subsequently issued on both subjects for two counts of Aggravated Assault, police added.
