LaGrange man arrested for having two terabytes of child sexual abuse material and attempting to sell material
A LaGrange man is in custody following a multi-agency investigation into the alleged possession and online distribution of child pornography, authorities confirmed Wednesday.
According to a press release from the LaGrange Police Department, 42-year-old Preston Darrell Jones was arrested on July 3, 2025, after officers executed a search warrant at a residence located at 912 Georgia Avenue.
The arrest stems from an ongoing investigation initiated by the FBI’s Violent Crimes Against Children (VCAC) Unit, which contacted the LaGrange Police Department’s Special Victims Unit on June 25 to request assistance from its Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Detectives.
Investigators allege Jones purchased and downloaded more than two terabytes of child pornography, estimated to include over 5,000 images and videos, and then attempted to sell the illicit material for profit online.
Jones faces multiple charges under Georgia Code O.C.G.A. 16-12-100 for Sexual Exploitation of Children, including downloading, possessing, advertising, and attempting to sell child pornography.
The operation involved coordination between LaGrange Police ICAC detectives, the department’s Uniformed Patrol Division, and specialized Electronic Storage Device (ESD) K-9 Units from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office. Police say the ESD K-9 teams were instrumental in locating electronic evidence during the search.
“The LaGrange Police Department is very appreciative of the professional working relationships they have with the agents at the FBI Atlanta Field Office VCAC Unit, as well as the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Electronic Storage Device Detection K-9 Unit for their assistance in this arrest and ongoing investigation,” the department stated.
