Atlanta police say officers responded to reports of multiple people shot at approximately 1:27 a.m. at 349 Edgewood Ave SE. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
As homicide investigators began their work, additional 911 calls came in reporting more victims in the area. Officers ultimately located a total of 10 additional gunshot victims, seven being men and three being women, in or near the original location. All surviving victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.
Preliminary findings indicate the violence stemmed from a dispute involving a group of four individuals, believed to be three males and one female, which escalated into gunfire. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
Investigators are actively working to piece together what led to the shooting, including reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and processing evidence.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta anonymously by calling 404-577-TIPS (8477), visiting www.StopCrimeAtl.org, or texting CSGA. Tipsters do not have to provide their name and may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
