Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office seizes $2.3 million in drugs, 37 firearms in 60-day crackdown
In a sweeping 60-day crackdown on violent crime and drug trafficking, the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has seized over $2.3 million in illegal narcotics, removed 37 firearms from the streets, and executed 22 search warrants across the region, Sheriff Greg Countryman announced today.
A total of 47 individuals have been arrested during the operation, with charges ranging from murder and attempted murder to drug trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children. The arrests are part of a larger effort by MCSO and its law enforcement partners to dismantle criminal networks and protect the safety of Muscogee County residents.
“We won’t stop until the criminals stop,” said Sheriff Countryman. “We remain committed to the safety of our citizens and stand resolute in our mission to stay the course.”
The coordinated operation resulted in the seizure of the following:
179.7 pounds of marijuana ($815,280 street value)
11.4 pounds of methamphetamine ($521,320 street value)
20.2 pounds of cocaine ($918,300 street value)
153 grams of fentanyl ($63,600 street value)
145 grams of ecstasy ($3,950 street value)
49 grams of heroin ($19,600 street value)
$143,194.81 in U.S. currency
37 firearms
18 vehicles pending seizure
The total estimated street value of the narcotics seized stands at $2,342,050.
The Sheriff credited the success of the operation to the dedication and coordination of several MCSO divisions, including the Collaborative Intelligence Group, HEAT Unit, Sex Offender Task Force, Special Operations Unit, and Uniform Patrol Bureau. He also extended thanks to partner agencies including the FBI, DEA, GBI, Georgia State Patrol, and the Sheriff’s Offices of Harris, Coweta, Talbot, Russell, and Lee counties.
“These collaborative efforts are essential in identifying and arresting individuals involved in violent crime, child exploitation, and local drug trafficking organizations,” said Countryman. “We will not allow criminals to outwork us or outthink us.”
While many of the cases have already been bound over to Superior Court and await prosecution, investigations remain ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
“There are pending investigations that will require in depth collaboration at higher levels, but we will not give up or give in to the threats that affect the safety and security of the great Citizens of Muscogee County,” Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman said.
