Human remains found in Auburn; clothing consistent with missing man
A death investigation is now underway after human remains were located in Auburn.
Police say the remains were found by Auburn Police and the North Alabama Search Dog Association in a heavily wooded area located southeast of Lee Road 20 on August 21, 2025
Officials say they observed clothing consistent with Wesley Carter Herbert, a person reported missing on August 8, 2025, who had not been seen since August 3rd.
“Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine the identity,” police said. “There is no evidence to suggest criminal activity or a present threat to the community.”
The death investigation remains ongoing
