Child injured in single-vessel crash on Lake Martin
A single-vessel crash involving a personal watercraft on Lake Martin has resulted in the injury of a 12-year-old juvenile Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on August 31, 2025, in Little Kowaliga Creek near Wake Robbin Road, an area marked by a causeway that extends into the lake. According to authorities, the juvenile was operating a 2024 Sea-Doo 300 and towing another 12-year-old on a kneeboard at the time of the crash.
Prior to impact, the kneeboard rider released the tow rope. Moments later, the Sea-Doo struck the causeway, sending the operator airborne and ultimately landing on the roadway. The 12-year-old operator sustained injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The child being towed was not injured in the incident.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division are currently investigating.
