Inmate found naked after escaping from Harris County work detail, sheriff’s office confirms
Authorities re-arrested an inmate who escaped from a prison work detail and was found naked on a nearby street.
The unidentified inmate walked away from a work detail at Idle Hour Boat Ramp in Fortson around 2:26 P.M. on October 7, 2025. Immediately, a search of the inmate began by Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol.
During the search, which was established along Mountain Drive and Lick Skillet Road, nearby schools were notified and a Code Red Alert was issued for the surrounding area.
Several minutes later, ‘one of Harris County’s helpful and alert citizens’ reported a naked white male flagging down vehicles along Lick Skillet Road, said the sheriff’s office.
The subject, who was completely unclothed, was confirmed to be the escaped prison camp inmate.
He was promptly taken into custody and transported back to the Prison Camp, where he was turned over to prison staff without further incident.
