Major power outage reported in Opelika
A major power outage has been reported across Opelika, including in Tiger Town.
2,700 customers are currently without power in multiple areas in Opelika, including Pepperell Pkwy. and 2nd Avenue.
“We have a report of a line down on Pepperell Pkwy near Mrs. Story’s Restaurant,” according to Opelika Power Services.
The city’s power services company said their crews were aware and have been dispatched to ‘identify the cause and restore service as quickly and safely as possible.’
CNAW received multiple messages about power being out at multiple stores at Tiger Town, including at Kroger where shoppers and employees were seen walking around in the dark, using flashlights to navigate through the store.
It is unclear what caused the outage.
