Columbus man charged in 2024 apartment complex murder
Columbus Police have arrested 22-year-old Marques Lattimore in connection with the 2024 shooting death of 24-year-old Jabreia Burston.
Lattimore was taken into custody on October 24, 2025, and has been charged with Murder, Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
He appeared in Recorder’s Court on October 28, where he entered a plea of not guilty. Lattimore was denied bond, and the case has since been bound over to Superior Court for further proceedings.
At the time of his arrest, police say Lattimore was out on bond for separate Home Invasion and Armed Robberycharges.
The charges stem from an incident on August 27, 2024, when officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Grove Park Apartments on Grove Park Drive around 8:52 p.m. Upon arrival, police found Burston suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot. She was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where she later died on August 28, 2024, at 3:15 p.m.
The Violent Crimes Unit continues to investigate. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Cpl. C. Alexander at 706-225-4263 or [email protected]. Tips can be provided anonymously.
