Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle in north Columbus identified
A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle in north Columbus earlier this week has now been identified.
The incident occurred around 6:30 in the morning on January 11, 2026, on Veterans Parkway near Almond Road.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says the victim was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown campus emergency room at 6:48 a.m., and was pronounced deceased at 2:08 p.m.
The victim was identified as 70-year-old Lawrence Allen Sutton, Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said.
Sutton’s had blunt force trauma to the head and torso which was the cause of death. His manner of death is accidental.
An investigation by the Columbus Police Department’s Motor Squad remains ongoing.
