U.S. and partner forces began coordinated strikes at 1:15 a.m. ET targeting Iran’s security infrastructure, including Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command centers, air defenses, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields.
According to CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper, the operation followed a presidential directive for decisive action. After the initial strikes, U.S. and partner forces defended against hundreds of Iranian missile and drone attacks, with no reported U.S. casualties and only minimal damage to installations.
The operation’s opening phase involved precision strikes from air, land, and sea, and marked the first combat use of low-cost one-way attack drones by CENTCOM’s Task Force Scorpion Strike. Operation Epic Fury represents the largest regional concentration of U.S. military firepower in a generation.
