Three U.S. service members killed, five others seriously injured in Operation Epic Fury
Multiple service members have been killed or injured in action during Operation Epic Fury.
U.S. Central Command confirmed at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026, three U.S. service members have died and five others were seriously injured during the operation.
Several others have received minor shrapnel injuries and concussions and are in the process of being returned to duty.
The injuries and deaths come after the major combat operations were ordered by President Donald J. Trump. During a Feb. 28 announcement, Trump vowed to dismantle Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, along with protecting Americans by confronting and eliminating threats from Iran’s regime.
Trump acknowledged the risk for military forces during the Feb. 28 video.
“I do not make this statement lightly — the Iran regime seems to skill,” he said. “The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost and we have may have casualties but that often happens in war.”
So far, precision strikes from air, land, and sea have dismantled key Iranian targets, such as Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Hosseini Khamenei, while U.S. and partner forces have defended against hundreds of missile and drone attacks.
Currently, major combat operations are continuing.
“The situation is fluid, so out of respect for the families, we will withhold additional information,” the United States Central Command said. “[which] includes the identities of our fallen warriors, until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.”
This is a developing story.
