Oliver Elementary School having remote learning Tuesday after fire
A fire at a Russell County elementary school has moved students and staff to remote learning while inspections continue.
The fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. Monday at Oliver Elementary School in Seale. The fire was deemed electrical and the fire was eventually extinguished.
The Russell County School District said “possible damage and the need for further inspection” will lead students and staff to transition remote learning for Tuesday, March 3.
“Once the initial inspection is complete, we will determine any further action as needed,” the district said.
Teachers are sending chromebooks home with students and students will receive additional information about lessons and activities soon.
