Russell County deputy rushed to hospital after being assaulted during traffic stop
There is no such thing as a routine traffic stop, and what happened yesterday proved just that.
Authorities say on May 3, 2023, a Russell County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was assaulted during a traffic stop on Broad Street in Phenix City.
As a result of the assault, the deputy suffered from a medical emergency and had to be rushed to the hospital by other deputies and investigators on scene. The Deputy is expected to make a full recovery.
Patrick Shawn McGlinchey was arrested on scene and charged with Assault 2nd Degree.
“Phenix City Police Department Investigators are handling the case,” authorities said. “Per protocol, McGlinchey is being held in the Lee County Jail.”
