Two killed in crash on I-85 in Troup County
Two people are dead following a crash Friday afternoon on Interstate 85, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Troopers say the crash occurred on April 10, 2026, at approximately 4 p.m. near Mile Marker 18.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound in the left lane of I-85. At the same time, a 2013 Hyundai box truck was disabled on the east shoulder of the interstate and was completely off the roadway.
For reasons that remain under investigation, the driver of the Camry steered to the right, leaving the roadway and striking the rear of the box truck.
Both the driver and passenger of the Camry sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Their identities have not yet been released.
