20-year-old female inmate dies at Muscogee County jail; no foul play suspected
A female inmate has died at the Muscogee County Jail, authorities say.
20-year-old Xaniya Muse was pronounced deceased at the jail after being found unresponsive on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said Muse will be taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy and no foul play is suspected.
“The GBI has been called as is part of our standard protocol to investigate the incident,” Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman said.
The MCSO Special Operations Investigators will work a parallel investigation alongside the GBI.
