LaGrange police crime suppression detail makes 92 arrests, seizes 20 firearms since April
The LaGrange Police Department says its Crime Suppression Detail has made more than 92 arrests and seized 20 firearms since launching summer enforcement operations on April 4, 2026.
According to police, the Crime Suppression Detail is made up of members from the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Special Investigations Unit and K9 Unit, along with officers who specialize in gang and drug investigations.
Since April 4, the unit has worked 12 patrol shifts focused on reducing violent crime and illegal activity throughout the city.
During those operations, officers issued more than 236 citations and served numerous search and arrest warrants. Police said several of those arrested were wanted on serious charges, including gang-related felonies, aggravated assault and robbery.
Investigators also reported significant drug and weapon seizures during the operations. Authorities said the unit confiscated approximately four ounces of ecstasy, 40 grams of cocaine and more than nine ounces of marijuana.
Most notably, officers seized 20 firearms, including three rifles, a MAC-11 and 16 pistols. Police said two of the pistols had been reported stolen, while two others had been equipped with switches designed to convert the weapons into fully automatic firearms.
Authorities also said three of the seized pistols were recovered from minors who were arrested while dressed in all black clothing and wearing ski masks. The arrests increased the department’s total number of juveniles charged with underage firearm possession to four during the current enforcement period.
The department said the Crime Suppression Detail will continue operating throughout the summer months as part of an ongoing effort to combat violence and improve public safety in the community.
Police are also encouraging residents to provide anonymous tips through the department’s Tip411 system. Tips can be submitted through the mobile app, the online portal or by texting the keyword “LAGRANGE” to 847411.
