Columbus Police investigate midday shooting on Lakeside Dr.
The Columbus Police Department is investigating a midday shooting in the south end of the city that left one person injured Thursday afternoon.
The shooting occurred in the 3600 block of Lakeside Drive, located off Benning Drive. Reports of the shooting came in shortly before noon on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
According to police, one person was injured in the shooting. The victim’s current condition has not been released.
A neighbor told CNAW2 News they heard two loud gunshots that sounded like firecrackers just moments before officers arrived on scene.
Multiple Columbus police officers were seen rushing to the area following the call. Once officers arrived, crime scene tape was placed around the scene as investigators began processing evidence.
Crime scene investigators were observed taking photographs and closely examining evidence throughout the area while officers with the department’s patrol division and violent crimes unit conducted their investigation.
No suspects or additional details have been released at this time.
