Man wanted on aggravated stalking warrants surrenders after two-hour standoff in LaGrange
A man wanted on active aggravated stalking warrants was taken into custody Sunday evening following a nearly two-hour barricaded standoff at a residence in LaGrange.
According to authorities, patrol officers were notified at approximately 6:26 p.m. on May 31, 2026, that Deonald Johnson had been located at a residence in the 500 block of West Haralson Street and was wanted on outstanding aggravated stalking warrants.
The complainant told officers that Johnson had been asked to leave the residence but refused. Law enforcement was then contacted to have him removed from the property.
When officers arrived, they established a perimeter around the residence and began issuing verbal commands for Johnson to exit with his hands raised. Authorities said Johnson informed officers that he was armed and would not come outside, stating they would have to enter the residence to take him into custody.
The LaGrange Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit and members of the Criminal Investigations Division responded to assist. Johnson then barricaded himself inside the home while investigators worked to obtain a search warrant and officers continued efforts to resolve the situation peacefully.
After approximately two hours of negotiations and de-escalation efforts, Johnson exited the residence at around 8:22 p.m. He was taken into custody without incident and transported for processing on the outstanding warrants.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
