UPDATE: Woman charged with giving false statements, tampering with evidence in LaGrange murder investigation
A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the ongoing investigation into the June 1 murder of Keontavious Bailey, according to the LaGrange Police Department.
Police said detectives obtained arrest warrants for 28-year-old Marecia Todd on June 3 after uncovering new evidence during the homicide investigation.
According to investigators, Todd allegedly provided false statements about what she witnessed during the incident that led to Bailey’s death. Detectives also determined that she tampered with evidence before law enforcement officers arrived at the scene.
The charges come as investigators continue to work the case surrounding Bailey’s fatal shooting, which occurred in the 300 block of Dix Street on June 1.
Authorities previously announced that charges against another individual had been dismissed after newly discovered evidence indicated she was not responsible for Bailey’s death.
The LaGrange Police Department said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact Detective Ligon at 706-883-2620.
