Lee County fire crews working to extinguish house fire Thursday
Salem, Beauregard and Smiths Station fire crews are working to extinguish a Thursday afternoon house fire.
The fire was reported in the 200 block of the road 705 and the Salem community of Lee County. Firefighters responded to the call around 5:25 p.m. eastern time on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
Beauregard Volunteer Fire Department, Salem Volunteer Fire Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and Lee County Emergency Management Agency are on the scene. Later, EAMC Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene, along with Smiths Station Fire and Rescue Chief Blake Green and another firefighter.
CNAW2News crews were four miles away from the scene when they could see heavy smoke billowing from the area.
Smoke and flames are rolling out of the home, with drone footage sent to CNAW2News showing extreme damage to half of the home. CNAW2News was told the homeowners were able to get out in time.
Emergency services on scene did appear to be checking on firefighters through the operations due to extreme heat conditions.
The entire area of Lee Road 704 and 705 is blocked from Alabama Highway 169 to Lee Road 128.
This is a developing story.
