Body found last week identified as missing Columbus man, MCSO confirms
A body found last week in a brushy area in Columbus has been positively identified as a missing man.
Last weekend, Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office investigators discovered a deceased individual in a wooded area in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. The same area of where 35-year-old Cordale McKissic lives and went missing from. The days following the discovery, investigators worked the crime scene and the body was sent to Atlanta for a positive identification and an autopsy.
The positive identification came back today and identified the body, as McKissic, who was previously listed on the Columbus Police Department’s critically missing list. The cause and manner of death is unknown.
This incident is still under investigation. “Additional information will be released as it becomes available,” authorities said.
