Louisiana man arrested in connection with Hogansville road rage shooting investigation
A suspect has been arrested in connection with a road rage shooting that injured a motorist on Interstate 85 in Hogansville on Monday.
According to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and local law enforcement agencies took Kyle Sylvester Jr. of Louisiana into custody on Tuesday, July 14, following a separate shooting incident and vehicle pursuit that began in neighboring Coweta County.
Authorities said that at approximately 11:36 a.m., Troup County 911 received a call from Coweta County 911 regarding a motorist traveling north on Interstate 85 who reported that another driver had fired multiple shots at his vehicle. The victim followed the suspect’s vehicle until it turned around and began traveling south on Highway 29 near Grantville.
A lookout was issued for the suspect vehicle, and officers with the Grantville Police Department, Hogansville Police Department, and deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the City of Hogansville. Sylvester was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Troup County Jail.
Investigators have since determined that Sylvester is also the suspect in the road rage shooting that occurred Monday, July 13, on the southbound Interstate 85 Exit 28 off-ramp in Hogansville.
In that incident, a victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Sylvester will be charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of firearm during commissions of a crime, and discharge firearm from a moving vehicle. No additional information has been released.
