Police investigating reported robbery at Columbus convenience store
New details have emerged following an armed robbery Wednesday morning at the Crown gas station located at the intersection of South Lumpkin Road and Wise Street in Columbus.
CNAW2News first began receiving word of the incident around 10:05 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Crime scene tape was used to cordon off the building while Columbus police officers investigated.
A female witness who asked not to be identified told CNAW2News she was inside the store when two masked men entered shortly after 9 a.m. The suspects were reportedly wearing safety vests and attempted to get behind the counter but were unsuccessful.
According to the witness, four male customers were inside the store at the time. The suspects allegedly ordered the men to lie on the floor before taking their wallets, cell phones and cash. One of the victims was reportedly struck in the head with a handgun during the robbery.
The witness said the suspects did not gain access behind the counter and instead stole property belonging to the customers before fleeing the scene.
She estimated the incident occurred between 9:05 a.m. and 9:06 a.m., with police arriving shortly afterward.
At this time, it remains unclear whether any suspects have been arrested or if the victim who was struck suffered serious injuries.
This is a developing story. Columbus police have not released any details or verified updates regarding this incident.
