First responders, coroner on scene of accident on U.S. Highway 280 in Salem
Several first responders are on the scene of a deadly accident Monday morning.
The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 280 eastbound near Dudley Lumber Company and Lee Road 633. Salem Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, EAMC ETS, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, responded to the scene around 5 a.m. eastern time on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Both eastbound lanes of the highway are closed at Lee Road 158 until further notice. Drivers heading eastbound are being advised to turn onto Lee Road 158, right onto Lee Road 183 and stay on Lee Road 183 until they reach Highway 280.
The Lee County Coroner’s Office is on scene. We are working to gather more information.
