Troup County father arrested after infant hospitalized with severe injuries
A 27-year-old Troup County man has been arrested after investigators say an infant was hospitalized with severe injuries believed to be the result of child abuse.
According to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division were notified on Tuesday, August 4, by staff at an Atlanta-area children’s hospital after an infant patient was admitted with injuries that raised concerns of possible abuse.
Investigators traveled to the hospital and met with the child’s medical team, who reported the infant had sustained multiple bone fractures and internal injuries. Medical staff told investigators the injuries were consistent with intentional harm and not an accident.
During the investigation, detectives determined the injuries occurred at a home in Troup County. Investigators were then able to locate the child’s parents, who were not at the hospital with the infant.
After interviewing both parents, investigators arrested the child’s father, Jordan Bragg, 27, and transported him to the Troup County Jail.
Bragg has been charged with:
Aggravated Battery
Cruelty to Children – First Degree
Cruelty to Children – Second Degree
The Troup County Sheriff’s Office said no additional information is being released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
