Man transported to hospital as SWAT operation unfolds at Phenix City Days Inn
A large law enforcement response was reported Tuesday afternoon at the Days Inn on U.S. Highway 280 near Walmart and South Railroad Avenue in Phenix City.
SWAT members were seen around the hotel, along with investigators from multiple law enforcement agencies.
The Russell County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Phenix City Police Department, Russell County District Attorney’s Office, CARE Ambulance and Phenix City Fire & Rescue were among the agencies spotted at the scene.
Russell County District Attorney Rick Chancey and Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley were also reportedly present, according to CNAW2News reporters at the scene.
SWAT personnel were observed walking around the building as investigators from multiple departments worked in the area.
A male subject was seen being loaded into a CARE Ambulance and transported to a nearby hospital. His condition is currently unknown.
CNAW2News is working to confirm whether Tuesday’s law enforcement operation is connected to the ongoing manhunt for 36-year-old Andrew Roy Harris, who is wanted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Nicole Karastury Elliott in Waverly Hall.
At this time, officials have not confirmed that the Days Inn operation is connected to Harris.
This is a developing story.
