UPDATE: Columbus man identified after fatal crash on JR Allen Parkway
A 45-year-old Columbus man has been identified as the victim of a deadly single-vehicle crash Friday morning on JR Allen Parkway.
According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, Christopher Smith, 45, was killed in the crash.
The Columbus Police Department said the crash happened around the early morning hours of Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, on JR Allen Parkway westbound near River Road.
Bryan said Smith was involved in a single-vehicle accident. His next of kin was notified at the scene, and his remains were released to the funeral home.
The Columbus Police Department’s Motor Squad is investigating the crash.
