Lee County deputy resigns amid investigations into alleged inappropriate contact and policy violations
A Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputy resigned last week while an internal investigation into alleged policy violations stemming from a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 280 remains ongoing.
According to an incident report published on social media, the allegations involve a traffic stop that occurred on or around October 17, 2026.
Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said the deputy was placed on administrative leave while the investigation was underway but resigned before it was completed.
The internal investigation involved a review of potential policy violations. Meanwhile, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation is investigating allegations of inappropriate contact.
According to Jones, the internal investigation into potential policy violations had not been completed at the time of the deputy’s resignation.
The allegations remain under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
