BREAKING: Man charged with armed robbery, kidnapping after incident involving 13-year-old at Peachtree Mall
A man is facing multiple charges following an alleged armed robbery and kidnapping involving a 13-year-old child at Peachtree Mall in Columbus on Monday evening.
According to the Columbus Police Department, officers responded to a reported armed robbery at a store inside the mall shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026. The incident also involved a 13-year-old child who had reportedly been taken against his will.
Officers made contact with the suspect, identified as Leon Shack, outside the mall.
Police said Shack brandished a knife while still with the child. He was taken into custody, and the child was safely reunited with his mother.
Authorities said the relationship, if any, between Shack and the child remains unknown.
Shack is charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, theft by taking and obstruction.
The investigation remains ongoing.
