Troup County Fire Department opens new live fire training facility
The Troup County Fire Department celebrated the grand opening of its new Live Fire Training Facility on Wednesday, October 28, marking a significant investment in firefighter training and emergency response capabilities across the county.
Members of the Troup County Board of Commissioners, fire and public safety leadership, county officials, and community members gathered at the Troup County Fire Administration Building for the ceremony.
The celebration featured a unique ribbon cutting, with officials using the Jaws of Life to cut through a fire hose instead of a traditional ribbon. Attendees also watched a live-fire training demonstration highlighting the new facility’s capabilities.
The facility is designed to simulate fire suppression scenarios firefighters may encounter during residential and commercial structure fires. The controlled training environment will allow firefighters to sharpen their skills, improve operational readiness, and better prepare for real-world emergencies.
“We want to thank everybody that played a part in getting this facility,” said Division Chief of Fire Operations Rodney Evans. “This gives us a chance to keep our skills polished on the things that we do every day so that we can better serve our community.”
The new Live Fire Training Facility represents a continued investment in public safety, providing Troup County firefighters with additional opportunities to train for emergencies and better protect the communities they serve.
