Flooded roadways reported across City of Opelika, police say
Heavy rainfall early Wednesday morning across the Chattahoochee Valley has led to Opelika roadways being impassable to them being flooded.
EMA personnel are working to place barricades out to block flooded roadways at 1st Avenue near Opelika Dental, Auburn Street at the EMA Bus Shop, 2nd Avenue near Pawn Central, 1200 Block of Staley Ave, 1st Ave at Piggly Wiggly, and Columbus Parkway at N Uniroyal.
Lee County EMA states Marvyn Parkway at Reynolds Outdoors, 10th Street near Opelika Police Department, 10th Street near 3rd Ave, Old Opelika Road at Pepperell Parkway, Alabama Office Supply Warehouse, and County Road 73 Westbound are also affected by flooded waters.
Police ask that you do NOT drive through flood waters. “Officers have had to assist several motorists who have been stuck in several feet of water,” police said. If you can not see the road, do not drive through!
