Shooting at Newnan business leaves one injured , another in custody
Coweta County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting at a business earlier Thursday morning which left one person injured and another person in custody.
Coweta County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a business off Dart Rd. in reference to a shooting around 8:00 A.M. today, July 6, 2023. The initial call information advised an employee had been shot by an unknown person, authorities said.
As deputies arrived on scene, based on information that the shooter was barricaded somewhere in the building, deputies moved to clear the building while secondary units responding to the area set up a perimeter.
During the clearing of the building, the Coweta County E-911 updated authorities that the shooter may have fled the scene on a motorcycle. “A Newnan Police Officer advised they were following a motorcycle which matched the description and that the driver had ditched the motorcycle and fled on foot,” authorities added. “The Newnan Police Officer then advised the suspect was in custody.”
The victim was taken to an Atlanta Hospital where their condition is unknown.
This is an active investigation.
