Firefighters work structure fire early Wednesday morning on Pine Lane in Ladonia; Russell County Coroner’s Office now on scene
Firefighters responded to another structure fire in east Alabama, and authorities say two people have died.
The fire took place on Pine Lane in Ladonia. Phenix City Fire Department responded to the scene around 5:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry confirms his office is on the scene. Two bodies have been recovered from the fire and they remain unidentified, Sumbry said.
This fire comes after a string of fires since June 28th. On June 28th, two fires occurred on 14th Street in Phenix City and Kennedy Street in Ladonia. Following those fires, on July 8th, a third fire occurred on Hancock Place in Ladonia. On June 10th, two fires occurred in the 4300 block of Lee Road 246 and 15000 block of Hwy. 280 in Smiths Station. It’s unclear if any of the fires are connected.
This is a developing story.
