Missing Hoover woman, Carlee Russell, returns home, police say
Carlee Russell, the Hoover, Alabama woman who vanished after seeing a little child walking alongside a busy interstate, has been found alive and safe, police confirmed.
Russell was reported missing back on July 13, 2023, after Russell called 911 on I-459 South near mile marker 11 and reported that she saw a toddler walking on the side of the interstate. After calling 911 the caller stopped to check on the child and called a family member to report the same details.
The family member lost contact with her after she screamed, but the line remained open.
“Officers who were already en route to the location of the initial 911 call located the female’s vehicle and some of her belongings nearby, but were unable to find her or a child in the area,” police said. “Hoover Police have not received any other calls of someone missing a small child”
From there, the search for Russell began. 2 days later, on July 15, 2023, at 10:45 P.M., the Hoover 911 center received a call that she returned home to her residence.
“Police responded to the scene to investigate this latest development in the case,” police added. Hoover Fire medics responded to the scene to assess Carlee and transported her to a local hospital for evaluation.
This remains a developing story.
