Columbus dispatcher competing in Favorite Chef contest. Here’s how you can help.
A Columbus dispatcher is used to relaying information to public safety officials and taking emergency calls, and now she is competing in a Favorite Chef contest.
Janice Johnson is currently in the Top 3, and could be the winner with your help. Johnson says on the website, “I want to win just to prove to myself that I am good and I can do anything despite having Lupus.”
When Johnson cooks, it helps her forget she has the autoimmune disease. Johnson says she was inspired by her mom because her would cook with so much love and passion regardless of how she was feeling. “I miss her so much. She would be very proud of me,” Johnson said about her mom.
Johnson loves making baked chicken and rice or country style ribs.
If Johnson was to win, she would take home $25,000. “I would pay off my debt and then use the rest to buy some things for the homeless people in my community, I would be able to provide them with cooked meals daily,” Johnson added. “The ultimate goal for me is to become a personal chef.”
Along with the money, the winner of the contest will be featured in the Taste of Home Magazine. Click here, to vote for Johnson.
