Multiple fire crews respond to structure fire on 10th Avenue in Columbus
Columbus fire officials are on the scene of an active structure fire Sunday evening.
The fire is taking place at a recycling center on 10th Avenue near 5th Street. Our photographer, as well as numerous viewers, saw a large plume of smoke and the color of orange across the sky. CNAW viewers have reported hearing a loud explosion-like noise.
Columbus Fire Marshal John Shull tells CNAW the department is trying to acquire an airport fire apparatus to extinguish the fire as they are used to extinguish aircraft fires and they can carry a variety of extinguishing agents.
Shull adds no injuries have been reported and a fire department investigator is on the scene. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Traffic has been halted in numerous directions as the fire response remains ongoing. This is a developing story.
