Two people deceased in Auburn crash overnight, coroner officials confirm
Two people are deceased after an overnight single vehicle crash in Auburn, coroner officials say.
The collision occurred on Sunday, October 1, 2023, around 3 A.M. in the 1400 block of S College Street. The victims in crash are identified as Jaylin Keith Hubbard and Kayla Nicole Byrd. Both are 26-years-old.
Lee County Deputy Coroner Brad Whetstone says the crash occurred when the vehicle struck a tree in the median of South College Street. Whetstone says, according to family, Hubbard and Byrd were coming back from a catering event when the crash occurred.
Both families and next of kins have been notified. We have sent a media request email to Auburn Police Department for more information regarding the fatal crash.
