Dirk Way shooting victim passes away, coroner confirms
A homicide investigation is now underway after shooting victim passed away in the intensive care unit of a local hospital, Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says.
The victim was shot multiple times at 530 Dirk Way on December 18, 2023 in the afternoon hours. Today, December 28, 2023, the victim, later identified as 43-year-old Demetrius Heard, was pronounced dead at 2:12 P.M. in the intensive care unit at Piedmont Columbus Regional. Heard’s family has been notified.
