Columbus man dies after shooting on Fleming Ave. at Decatur Ct.
A homicide investigation is underway Wednesday afternoon after a man was shot in Columbus.
The shooting occurred in the 900 block of Fleming Avenue near Decatur Court around 3 P.M. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says the male victim, identified as 48-year-old Lacoya Whittlesey, was pronounced dead Piedmont Columbus Regional emergency room at 4:33 P.M.
His family has been notified. This is the fifth homicide for 2024, and the eleventh person shot so far this year.
