Officer involved shooting investigation underway on Manchester Expressway in Columbus
A large police presence is underway this morning in Columbus after an officer-involved shooting.
The scene is taking place on Manchester Expressway near Mille Road. Multiple viewers reported hearing gunfire. Medics were seen tending to an injured person and placing the person on a stretcher and loading them up into the ambulance. The person’s condition is unknown.
Columbus Police Department says the eastbound lanes of Manchester Expressway, from Miller Road to Beaver Run Road, are currently closed off due to the ongoing investigation.
“Both the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and our Office of Professional Standards will conduct a thorough investigation into this incident,” police added. “For your safety and to facilitate the investigation process, we kindly request that you avoid the area until further notice.”
