Former investigator now facing sex crimes charges in Columbus days after bonding out in Russell County
A former Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office investigator is back in jail but on the Columbus side of the river with new charges related to sex crimes.
Back in December of last year, Corey Brand was booked into the Russell County Jail for one count of obscenity-production of pornography with minors, one count of sex offense-possession with intent to disseminate child pornography, and one count of obscenity-dissemination/display of child pornography. He bonded out of the Russell County Jail earlier this week.
This morning, Brand turned himself in to law enforcement in the parking lot of Columbus Police Department headquarters, according to sources. Jail records confirmed Brand was booked into the Muscogee County Jail at 8:15 A.M. on the following charges: computer or electronic pornography, rape, aggravated sexual battery, and child molestation.
The charges come after the Columbus Police Department began an investigation into reports of sexual assaults against a minor in August 2020.
This remains a developing story.
