High speed chase in Eufaula ends with one in custody
A high speed chase Friday afternoon which crossed state lines ended in a Cuthbert man behind bars, Eufaula police said.
The chase began when the Cuthbert man, later identified as 47-year-old Nicholas Bernard Walton, was stopped for speeding on State Docks Road.

The chase reached speeds in excess of 60 MPH on Randolph Avenue and over 100 MPH on the causeway heading into Georgia. Walton wrecked out in Georgetown and was arrested by Quitman County Sheriff’s Department. “Warrants were signed in Eufaula and Walton was returned back to Eufaula PD custody,” officials added.
He will be charged with Fleeing or Attempting to elude (13A-10-52), Reckless Endangerment (13A-6-24), Giving of false name or address to a Law Enforcement Officer (13A-9-18.1) as well as the speeding and driving while suspended citations.
He is currently awaiting bond.
