Abducted woman escapes, suspect caught after chase and crash
A Lee County woman is recovering after being abducted Saturday night and her ex boyfriend is facing charges.
Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones confirmed the incident began on Lee Road 2063 in Beauregard when a woman was abducted by her ex-boyfriend from the residence.
Eventually, she was able to escape. The suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Eric Deyon Shorter, was pursued by Russell County into Columbus.
The pursuit led to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Hamilton Road and Manchester Expressway.
Shorter remains in the Muscogee County Jail on a Fugitive from Justice charge. He is awaiting extradition to face charges in Alabama.
An investigation into the incident remains developing.
